The Organic Farming club of Vidhya Sagar Women’s College, Chengalpattu organized Health Nutrition Awareness Programme in association with Department of Integrated Child Development Services, Chengalpattu, on 4th September 2023. The program’s primary objective is to enhance students’ awareness of the relationship between nutrition and health. Welcome address was given by Mrs. Sarguna of District Planning Officer, Chengalpattu. The Awareness Programme was inaugurated by Mr. A.R Rahul Nadh I.A.S, District Collector of Chengalpattu. Presidential address was given by Honorable Mrs. M. VaralakshmiM.L.A, Chengalpattu. Special speakers, Mrs. Sembaruthi Durgesh, District Panchayat Chairman of Chengalpattu; Mrs. Thenmozhi, Chairwoman of the Municipality of Chengalpattu; and Mrs. Udhya Krishnan, President of the Panchayat Union gave a brief explanation on the significance of foods high in protein and iron to the students.Mr. Baranitharan, Deputy Director of Health Services, Chengalpattu, described the causes of anemia in women and provided solutions.
In order to spread awareness through entertainment, the students from Vidhya Sagar College, SRM College Kattangalathur, D.G Vaishnav College, Chrompet took part in cooking contests, poster design competitions, and cultural performances. The winners received prizes. To promote student participation, a certificate of participation was given. Finally, Mrs. S. Poornima of the Child Development Program Officer, Kattangalathur, presented an address of gratitude to conclude the program. Dr. D. Arunadevi, the Principal of Vidhya Sagar Women’s College, was present at the event.
